What it is
Soil application is the most common durable end-use for biochar — and a source of real agronomic co-benefits: improved water-holding capacity, soil structure and, in many Indian soils, healthier yields over time.
But application must be done right to count for carbon and to help farmers. We design evidence-based application rates and field trials, and build farmer and FPO engagement so the biochar is used well and the application is properly recorded for MRV.

Agronomic Biochar & Soil Application: common questions
How much biochar should be applied per hectare?
There is no single rate — it depends on soil type, crop, biochar properties and goals, so any figure is an estimate to be validated in trials. We design site-specific rates rather than apply a blanket number.
Does biochar actually improve yields?
Evidence shows biochar can improve soil water-holding, structure and yields, especially in degraded or sandy soils — but responses vary by context and are not guaranteed. We design trials to measure the real effect for your soils and crops.
Does soil application affect the carbon credit?
Yes. Correct, recorded application is part of the MRV chain that substantiates durable storage. We make sure the agronomy and the carbon accounting reinforce each other.
